Student's recently completed their Work Experience in February. Here's what some of our students had to say...
Christian, Year 11
For the past week I was visiting construction sites on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with my Uncle Toni. On Wednesday was an office day which meant I was in meetings all day paying attention to how the management team organised contractors, such as organising concreters to lay down slabs for houses.
Photo: I am pictured in the below photo, fixing up the information board out the front of the construction site. This information board lists all the builder's contact information. Overall, I enjoyed my work experience placement and it has opened my eyes to what's involved with the building and construction industry.
Rosiebelle and Angel, Year 11
For our week of work experience, we worked at Goodstart Jindi Kindergarten with children aged 2 to 5 years old. The first day was a real wake-up call. It made us realise just how much time, energy, and patience it takes to look after and entertain young children.
Our main tasks included playing with the kids whether that was hand painting, games, or reading books supervising them outside on the swings and slides, and, of course, cleaning up their endless messes. Nap time was a calmer time to collect ourselves and outside play was fun since we got to interact with lots of kids at once and move between activities quickly.
Overall, the experience was eye-opening. It gave us a real understanding of what it’s like to work with young kids and made us think more about what kind of careers and age groups we might want to work with in the future.
