Mernda Hills Christian College is excited to announce a significant expansion with the upcoming construction of a state-of-the-art Early Learning Centre (ELC) on campus. This new facility represents a major milestone in the College’s ongoing commitment to providing exceptional educational opportunities, beginning from the earliest stages of learning.
Located at the front of the College, where The Village currently stands, the ELC will feature four large, flexible classrooms designed to create a nurturing and dynamic learning environment for 3 and 4 year olds. The Village will be relocated to the back of the Middle School building to make way for this exciting new development.
“We are thrilled to take this next step in our College’s growth,” said Ms Kristin Hankins, Principal of Mernda Hills Christian College. “The Early Learning Centre is not just an addition to our College; it’s a reflection of our commitment to the future. By expanding our facilities, we can better serve our community and support families in nurturing the next generation.”
The ELC is set to open its doors in 2026 and will provide priority enrolment into the College’s Foundation year level, ensuring a seamless transition for young learners into primary school. In addition to the classrooms, the facility will also include two specialist offices, which will be available for community service providers such as maternal health care nurses.
“This project aligns with our mission to provide holistic, Christ-centred education,” added Ms Hankins. “We believe that by fostering a consistent Christian learning environment throughout a child’s education, we can significantly enhance their spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development.”
The Whittlesea Council and Mernda Hills Christian College have identified a growing need for a high-quality Christian Early Learning Centre in the community. This new facility will meet that need, offering an affordable, faith-aligned education option that benefits not only the students but also the broader community. It will be the seventh ELC constructed as part of the Seventh-day Adventist School system in Victoria, which currently provides early learning opportunities to over 300 students.
Mernda Hills Christian College looks forward to welcoming its first group of young learners in 2026 and continuing its mission to provide nurture for today, learning for tomorrow and character for life.
