At Mernda Hills Christian College, the enrolment process is designed to ensure that every prospective student feels welcomed and supported. To begin the journey with us, all families will have the opportunity to meet our friendly enrolment team. During this process, we will assess the student's suitability and readiness for our school community and provide a thoughtful written response to share with your family.
Our enrolment process typically begins 1-2 years before your preferred entry time. The main intake years for joining Mernda Hills Christian College are as follows:
For these year levels, most application offers are made in June of the year before enrolment. We also welcome applications for other year levels; however, acceptance is subject to availability and meeting our standard criteria.
Below, we've compiled a step-by-step guide for our enrolment process.
Please Note: A non-refundable $200 processing fee is payable per enrolment application. This is separate from school fees, which can be found here.
You can explore our fees on our dedicated Fees page.
Mernda Hills caters to students in both Primary and Secondary, from Foundation through to Year 12.
Currently we do not offer an Early Learning or Kindergarten program, however this is a part of our plan for future development.
Generally in Victoria, children start school in Foundation (Prep) after they have turned 5 years old. See the Australian School Age Calculator for specifics.
Sometimes it is recommended that a child spends an extra year at kindergarten to give them more time to mature socially and emotionally before commencing in a formal school environment. For more information, see our Readiness page.
That depends on the year level - some may have waiting lists. Please contact the college for information on a specific year level.
At Mernda Hills Christian College, we prioritise providing an excellent education experience for our students. Class sizes may vary, but rest assured that we maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio. This allows us to offer personalised attention and support to each student, ensuring they receive the best possible education and support.
There is no cut off date for applications. However, in order to maximise your chances of success, we suggest you apply early. Waiting lists may apply if year levels are already full.
The enrolment committee makes the final decision on all applications. Applications go to committee after all documentation has been received, the child and parent have had an interview with the Principal or delegate, and the child has completed any necessary testing and assessment.
The enrolment committee meets at scheduled times throughout the year to consider applications and positions available. Once the committee has assessed your application, you will be sent a letter notifying you of the outcome.
School buses currently service the Mernda, Doreen, Wollert and Donnybrook areas. Please note that demand is high for this service and seating is limited. Therefore placement cannot be guaranteed to all applicants. See our dedicated page for College Buses.
