Our Class of 2024 had a memorable graduation on Friday 18 October. The day began with a Valedictory assembly where students each received their certificates and sashes, received words of wisdom from Ms Hankins and Mr Martin and watched a beautiful video montage capturing their many special moments from their time at the college. This was followed by the traditional and emotion-filled Guard of Honour where our leavers symbolically passed through the whole school flanked by a cheering crowd of adoring younger students.
One of the highlights of their last day was our inaugural tree planting ceremony, marking a new tradition at Mernda Hills Christian College. The wild weather held off as our captains planted the young tree into the ground and each Year 12 graduate took turns filling the hole with soil. Just as this tree will grow and thrive in the years to come, we believe our Year 12s will also flourish in their future endeavours.
As Mr Martin expressed, 'Your roots, established here at Mernda Hills Christian College, are strong and grounded in faith, knowledge, and community. As you go forth into the world, remember to stay rooted in your values, nurture your growth, and bear fruit that will bless others. Your legacy will be seen not only in your achievements but also in the positive impact you have on the world around you.'
Students from Years 9 and 10 later served the Year 12s a special final lunch and the celebrations concluded with a fun-filled surprise water fight between the staff and the Year 12 graduates.
This Year 12 cohort are especially significant as they mark our first ever graduates of Mernda Hills Christian College. We wish our Year 12s all the best as they prepare for their final exams commencing next week!
