ASVAC Conference Highlights

What an incredible day of inspiration, connection, and community at the recent Adventist Schools Victoria All-Staff Conference (ASVAC) on Monday 22 June. Bringing together staff from every Seventh-day Adventist school across the state, the event was a powerful reminder of the broader educational system and supportive network our school is so proud to be a part of. Our system Chief Executive Officer, Mr Steve Cowley, did a wonderful job steering the day as Master of Ceremonies, providing a unique opportunity to strengthen our collective mission and reinforce the vision we share for nurturing student growth and faith.

A central highlight of the conference was the deeply moving keynote address by Ray Moaga, an exceptionally gifted communicator and Australian Defence Force chaplain with over twenty years of experience inspiring educators and young people. Ray delivered powerful, practical insights on wellbeing, resilience, and character development, focusing closely on the concept of 'humble strength' and what it truly means to lead with a servant's heart. His profound parting message challenged us all to 'take off the cape and pick up the towel'; just as Jesus did when he washed His disciples' feet before His crucifixion. Ray's authentic storytelling and approachable style resonated deeply with everyone present, reinforcing our shared mission work and exploring how we can continue to collaborate, innovate, and create meaningful, faith-centred learning environments across Victoria. Sharing a space with hundreds of educators and professional services staff who hold these same values truly highlighted the vibrant leadership and deep sense of community that underpins our entire network.

It was also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate dedication across our network, with many teachers from our own school recognised for their various milestones, including five, ten, fifteen, and twenty years of service. Across the broader Adventist Schools Victoria system, it was incredibly inspiring to see a few outstanding staff members honoured for reaching as high as forty-five and fifty years of dedicated service to Christian education.

We are also absolutely thrilled and immensely proud to share that our very own Head of Secondary, Mr Trent J Martin, was honoured at the event, receiving the prestigious Leadership Impact Award. This exceptional accolade recognises an individual who has made a significant and lasting influence within Adventist Schools Victoria by inspiring others, driving positive change, and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Judged against rigorous professional standards and our distinct Adventist principles, this award highlights leaders who mentor staff and families, implement high-quality professional learning, and ensure education remains engaging, visible, and service-oriented. We are incredibly blessed to have such exemplary, values-driven leadership shaping the future of our own school community and the students we serve. Well done Mr Martin!
