Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Victoria) Ltd is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic candidate of Design & Technology and Humanities Teacher (Years 7 to 10) to join the Secondary team at Mernda Hills Christian College. This is Full-Time teaching position (part-time also is considered), is open to both experienced teachers and graduates, providing a fantastic opportunity to begin or grow your teaching career in a supportive environment. Key Responsibilities:

The focus of the classroom teacher is to plan, prepare and teach programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The classroom teacher will teach a range of classes and is accountable for the effective delivery of their programs. The classroom teacher utilises critical reflection in order to improve knowledge and skills to better engage students and improve their learning.

An integral aspect of the planning is to embed the spiritual characteristics and values of the school in all aspects of learning and teaching.

The successful candidate will demonstrate that they:

  • Plan, prepare and teach programs to achieve specific student outcomes
  • Use critical reflection to improve the knowledge, learning and skills of students
  • Use multiple sources of feedback on their classroom practice to inform their professional learning goals
  • Show a willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues to improve teaching and learning within the school and the wider Seventh-day Adventist school system
  • Can support and actively promote, and not undermine, the Christian-based values and ethos of the College based on the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
  • Have the capacity to teach the Australian curriculum in the context of the college's Christian-based ethos
  • Be able to plan for and lead daily Christian-based class devotions to students

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate students
  • Dedication to evidence-based teaching practices and ongoing professional development
  • Time management and organisational abilities
  • Current VIT registration and relevant teaching qualifications

The successful applicant will hold a Bachelor of Education (or equivalent) and registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
