Mernda Hills Christian College is seeking an experienced and passionate educational leader to join our Primary leadership team in the newly created position of Primary Coordinator (can split between 0.4 FTE Learning & Teaching Coordinator and 0.6 FTE Primary Coordinator - Behaviour & Wellbeing), which commences in January 2027.

About the Role
This exciting full-time role combines leadership responsibilities across curriculum, teaching excellence, student wellbeing, behaviour support, and school operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Primary and executive leadership team to strengthen teaching and learning outcomes while fostering a positive, Christ-centred school culture.
For the right candidate, this position may be considered as two separate part-time leadership roles:
- Primary Coordinator (Behaviour & Wellbeing) - 0.6 FTE
- Learning & Teaching Coordinator-0.4 FTE
The Primary Coordinator role is a newly established leadership position within the College, reflecting our commitment to enhancing student wellbeing, staff support, and school culture.
Learning & Teaching Leadership
- Leading curriculum planning, implementation and review across Foundation to Year 6.
- Driving a culture of professional growth and evidence-based teaching practice.
- Using student data to inform curriculum development and improve learning outcomes.
- Supporting teachers through coaching, mentoring and professional learning initiatives.
- Coordinating assessment programs, reporting processes, NAPLAN, ICAS and other testing requirements.
- Ensuring curriculum compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and standards.
Wellbeing & Behaviour Leadership
- Leading pastoral care, student wellbeing and behaviour support processes across the Primary School.
- Supporting the implementation of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) and restorative practices.
- Working collaboratively with families, teachers and support staff to meet student wellbeing needs.
- Managing behaviour support processes and student wellbeing interventions.
- Developing positive, supportive and inclusive school culture initiatives.
- Providing guidance and support to staff in areas of classroom management and student wellbeing.
- Leading pastoral care, student wellbeing and behaviour support processes across the Primary School.
- Supporting the implementation of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) and restorative practices.
- Working collaboratively with families, teachers and support staff to meet student wellbeing needs.
- Managing behaviour support processes and student wellbeing interventions.

Leadership & Staff Development
- Coaching and mentoring teaching staff.
- Collaborating with Learning Support, Wellbeing, Chaplaincy and Leadership teams.
- Supporting the development of high-performing teams and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Contributing to strategic planning and school improvement initiatives.
- Building strong partnerships with students, staff and families.
About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
Knowledge and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education.Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a school setting.
- Strong understanding of effective teaching, learning and curriculum practices.
- Experience supporting student wellbeing and behaviour management.
- Ability to build positive relationships with staff, students and families.
- Commitment to child safety and wellbeing.
- Experience in curriculum leadership and professional learning.
- Experience using student data to inform improvement strategies.
- Knowledge of PB4L and restorative practice frameworks.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring teachers.
- Previous experience in Adventist Education.
- Additional study or expertise in wellbeing, leadership or student behaviour support.
Skills and Abilities
- Must be a baptised and practicing member of the Seventh-day Adventist church, or an active adherent of another Christian denomination, highly supportive of the school's vision, mission and values.
- Leadership qualities with an evidence-based approach
- Highly effective personal relations skills, with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience and proven record in effective learning and teaching skills, including management of challenging student behaviours.
- Self-motivated, demonstrating the ability to inspire others and to deliver and accept feedback with respect to the effectiveness of endeavours and the achievement of goals.
- Highly effective organisational skills.
